Inspired by old Serbian national hat known as Šajkača (pronounced Shykacha), which was an military cap at first. The name “shykacha’’ preserves the memories of the Serb combat river-units served as members of service Austro-Hungarian monarchy from the Banat area in the 18th century. These soldiers were called the “Shykashy” they wore caps that resembled as their ships by shape, and quickly became part of the standard military uniform of 1870. “Shykacha” were massively worn among the Serbian population during the First Serbian Uprising, and were the most common part of the Serbian military uniform from the beginning of the 19th century to the end of the 20th century. These modernized and stylized “shykacha’’ is hand crafted from natural leather. The cap is quilted with a thin round leather strap from which the chain is lowered, on it there is a mask made of more cut parts that are connected by stainless steel round bars. It covers the nose and the part of the face, and from it there are more leather straps hanging and a big metal ring with black glass beads and black agate. This modern battle cap called “shykacha’’ could be worn by both genders.
