This is a one of a kind piece of wearable art made for the Five and Diamond Tenth Annual Headgear Art Show and shown on June 17, 2022.

Inspiration: There is a persistence involved to collect or forage identical antique pieces and that is the backbone to the story of this headdress. I was strongly driven by color and shape & wanted it to look, like what it feels like to be drenched in the first rain following summer. This character embodies abundance and self determination, leading from within.

MATERIALS USED

Recycled everything: Buttons, buckles, bottle caps, and cones, pieces and parts of dresses to messes, along with lids and love…

WEARING INSTRUCTIONS

I find it best to pick up this piece from the “crown’s intersection”. It’s always recommended to prep one’s hair style before wearing… And by un-hooking the elastic strap from the side brackets, there will be more room to lower the piece onto head- then reattach elastic and adjust for comfort. Some head shapes and sizes may not find the removable elastic necessary. For care instructions, this piece should live on a head form.
